2. What information we collect
- Booking enquiries. When you use the booking form we collect your name and email address, and anything else you choose to give us: phone number, organisation, type of booking, event date, location, audience size, talk or topic, and your message.
- Emails and calls. If you email or phone us, we keep what you tell us so we can reply and arrange any booking.
- Technical information. Like most websites, our web server keeps short-term logs. They record your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of each request.
- Your cookie choice. We store your choice about social feeds in your own browser. See our Cookie Policy.
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
3. How we use it and our lawful basis
| What we do | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Reply to your enquiry, check Nige's availability and send a proposal | Steps you ask us to take before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries |
| Arrange and deliver a booking, and send and keep invoices | Performance of a contract and compliance with legal obligations (for example tax records) |
| Keep the website working and secure, and stop misuse of the form | Our legitimate interest in running a safe website |
| Load social feeds from X, Facebook or LinkedIn | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
We will not send you marketing emails unless you have asked us to.
4. Who we share it with
We only share personal information with organisations that help us run this website and our bookings:
- Resend (Resend, Inc.) delivers the emails sent by our booking form. Our account sends from Resend's EU (Ireland) region.
- Our web hosting provider stores the website and its short-term server logs.
- Professional advisers, such as accountants, where this is needed for a booking or for our legal obligations.
- Blue Mountain Group, only if your enquiry is about Blue Mountain Group services and you are happy for us to pass it on.
These organisations may only use your information to provide their service to us. We never sell your personal information.
5. Transfers outside the UK
Resend is a US company, so some information may be accessed from the United States. Where personal information leaves the UK, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place as UK law requires, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
6. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to a booking: up to 2 years, then deleted.
- Booking records and invoices: 6 years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as required for tax purposes.
- Web server logs: about 5 weeks, then deleted automatically.
- Your cookie choice: stored in your browser until you change it or clear your browser data.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information;
- ask us to limit how we use your information;
- object to us using your information on the basis of legitimate interests;
- ask us to send your information to another organisation (data portability);
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
To use any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 1. It is free, and we will reply within one month.
8. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have used your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk, telephone 0303 123 1113.
9. Security
The website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Our email delivery settings are stored outside the public part of the web server, and access to our systems is limited to the people who need it.
10. Children
This website is for event organisers and businesses. It is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
